Hallo and welcome to North Eastern National Polytechnic

North Eastern National Polytechnic (NENaP) is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution, formerly the North Eastern Province Technical Training Institute (NEPTTI). The institution is situated 3 kilometres from Garissa Town along Sankuri Road. Our environment is serene and ideal for skills and knowledge transfer to our trainees. We offer competency based education and training (CBET) in a wide range of specialisations; including: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food and Beverage Management, Fashion Design, ICT, Nutrition and Dietetics, Welding and Fabrication, among others. Our graduates are equipped with hands-on skills that make them stand out in the job market. The Polytechnic has vast potential for expansion and we continue to seek partners. Through the support of the Government of Kenya and our development partners; in particular Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), we have state-of-the-art equipment in automotive engineering, mechatronics, ICT, mechanical engineering as well as electrical engineering. We recognise and acknowledge the support from the County Government of Garissa, Garissa Township NG-CDF, KCB Foundation, among other donor agencies, for offering scholarships to our trainees. We pledge to continue imparting relevant technical education to our learners. Once again, I welcome you to this great National Polytechnic.

Historical Background

In the year 2016, the institution acquired its National Polytechnic status through the Legal Notice No. 89 of 2016 as anchored in the TVET Act No. 29 of 2013. NENaP has a long history dating back to 1983 when it was founded as a Community-Based Technical Secondary School. In 1985, it was taken over by the Government of Kenya and was elevated to a Technical Training Institute (NEPTTI). The institution is the only National Polytechnic in the North Eastern Region of Kenya. It is governed by a Council appointed by the Cabinet Secretary for Education and the Principal serves as the Secretary to the Council and the Chief Executive Officer. The institution has the mandate to develop curriculum, train, examine, and award certificates up to National Diploma level.
